Breaking the ice

Mel and I agreed to meet again at a Mexican restaurant in Pike Rd. Again, we were very conversational. However the stoicism from our first date seemed to linger. There was a mysterious aura in the air that seemed to be mutually intriguing to us. We both have an uncanny ability to read others, but we just couldn’t read one another.. and neither of us were willing to lay down our cards for the other to see.

After a couple of drinks we called it a night and I walked her to her car. She shunned my subtle attempt to get a hug. This had never happened to me and it was amplifying my desire to know more about her.

We continued texting but the conversation seemed rather mundane. It didn’t feel authentic, so before meeting again I decided to cut through the shit.

”Mel, what are you really looking for?” I asked her.

”Nothing serious at this point. I’m exhausted from this dating scene. Something casual.” She replied.

“So just some fun? Great sex and we go our own way?” I confirmed.

”Well I also like to hike” she said with a giggle.

“Ok, so sex and hiking!” I responded.

It felt relieving to have some clarity. I was also frustrated with dating and needed some satisfaction, so it seemed like a good arrangement.

The third date went a little differently…
